A Lattice-Theoretic Characterization of Optimal Minimum-Distance Linear Precoders

چکیده
This work investigates linear precoding over non-singular linear channels with additive white Gaussian noise, with lattice-type inputs. The aim is to maximize the minimum distance of the received lattice points, where the precoder is subject to an energy constraint. It is shown that the optimal precoder only produces a finite number of different lattices, namely perfect lattices, at the receiver. The wellknown densest lattice packings are instances of perfect lattices, however it is analytically shown that the densest lattices are not always the solution. This is a counter-intuitive result at first sight, since previous work in the area showed a tight connection between densest lattices and minimum distance. Since there are only finitely many different perfect lattices, they can theoretically be enumerated off-line. A new upper bound on the optimal minimum distance is derived, which significantly improves upon a The first and the fourth author were supported by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research through its Center for High Speed Wireless Communication at Lund University, Sweden. Construction of (sometimes) Optimal Linear Codes
For the purpose of error correcting linear codes over a finite field GF (q) and fixed dimension k we are interested in codes with high minimum distance d as these allow the correction of up to b(d− 1)/2c errors. On the other hand we are interested in codes with minimum redundancy, i.e. codes of small length n. High minimum distance and small length are controversial goals for the optimization o...
متن کاملOn the Role of MMSE in Lattice Decoding: Achieving the Optimal Diversity-vs-Multiplexing Tradeoff
In this paper, we introduce the class of lattice space-time codes as a generalization of linear dispersion (LD) coding. We characterize the diversity-vs-multiplexing tradeoff achieved by random lattice coding with lattice decoding. This characterization establishes the optimality of lattice vertical codes when coupled with lattice decoding. We then generalize Erez and Zamir mod-Λ construction t...
متن کاملOptimal Precoder for MIMO Schemes in Indoor Wireless VLC Systems
In multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) indoor visible light communication (VLC) systems, channel gains are highly correlated. As a result, the bit error rate (BER) of the system is degraded. To improve the BER performance of the system, we propose two precoders, namely, an optimal precoder and a diagonal precoder for MIMO schemes in VLC systems with Nt light emitting diodes (LED) and Nr photo...

Design of Optimal Process Flowsheet for Fractional Crystallization Separation Process
A procedure is presented that synthesizes fractional crystallization separation processes to obtain pure solids from multi-component solutions. The method includes a procedure to generate a network flow model to identify alternative process designs for fractional crystallization. The main advantage of this systematic procedure with respect to other reported procedures is using non-equilibri...
